Al Tayebat Museum: Historic Monument In Jeddah

The Al Tayebat International City Museum for Science and Knowledge is one of the largest historical structures in Jeddah. Founded by Abdul Raouf Hassan Khalil, the museum took more than fifteen years to complete. It features cultural landmarks, significant artifacts from Saudi civilization, and traditional crafts.

The museum is divided into several wings. The general culture wing exhibits magnificent heritage frescoes from ancient to modern times. The Islamic Civilization wing displays monuments and artifacts from the past 15 centuries, including important manuscripts and Qurans. It also showcases the architecture and style of various regions in Saudi Arabia and other countries.

The Al Tayebat International City is a unique hidden gem and tourist attraction in Jeddah. This massive museum showcases the city’s rich past with a beautiful blend of art and culture. It houses a stunning collection of international Islamic antiquities, including antique coins, modern furniture, and more.

 

The city maintains the traditional Hijazi architectural style, featuring impressive minarets scattered throughout the expansive complex, narrating the history of Jeddah and the Arabian Peninsula. The museum houses over 60,000 artifacts, including ancient manuscripts, traditional costumes, and a replica of the Kaaba.

The museum is comprised of several buildings, each housing hundreds of rooms. Its exhibits include a wide array of historical artifacts, such as Islamic manuscripts, pottery, coins, firearms, furniture, and clothing. Visitors can join guided tours to delve deeper into the rich history and culture of Saudi Arabia.

Visitors have the opportunity to attend workshops focused on traditional crafts and skills, including pottery making, weaving, and calligraphy. These workshops are conducted by skilled craftsmen, offering participants a chance to learn about the techniques and materials utilized in traditional crafts.
