Riyadh, Madinah Designated among UNESCO Creative Cities Network

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, announced that Riyadh and Madinah have officially joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Riyadh received recognition for its excellence in design, while Madinah was recognized for its vibrant culinary arts.

These achievements further reinforce Saudi Arabia’s rising prominence in UNESCO’s global network of cities for cultural innovation and urban development.

By including Riyadh in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, the Architecture and Design Commission seeks to solidify the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for urban innovation.

Notably, the recognition also mirrors Riyadh’s status as a capital city that features profound historical, cultural, and architectural significance, along with its standing as a dynamic hub for urban transformation and innovation in the region.

Meanwhile, Madinah’s inclusion in UNESCO’s network serves as a turning point for its cultural and economic future and a unique opportunity to secure a place on the global map of culinary excellence.

The Culinary Arts Commission, in collaboration with the Madinah Development Authority, is currently intensifying efforts to incorporate Madinah’s rich heritage and traditional flavors into the contemporary dining scene.

These recognitions stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering its cultural presence on the international stage in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
