Theater, Performing Arts Commission Launches Training Camp for Candidates of Traditional Performing Arts Troupe
The Theater and Performing Arts Commission launched the training camp for candidates shortlisted for the Traditional Performing Arts Troupe, hosted in Riyadh from August 30 to September 2, 2026, with the participation of 140 male and female candidates who passed auditions held in several regions across the Kingdom.
The camp represents the final selection stage for candidates seeking to join the troupe, following the audition phase and evaluation by the training team, aimed at assessing their artistic, physical and disciplinary readiness and their ability to meet the nature of the troupe’s work and requirements.
During the camp, participants undergo specialized training and evaluations, enabling the expert team to gain a deeper understanding of their capabilities and performance levels, and their readiness to work within a professional troupe, paving the way for selecting qualified elements to move to the next stage.
The camp will conclude with the preparation of a list of candidates who have passed the final selection, based on evaluation by a specialized team, prior to approving those accepted to join the Traditional Performing Arts Troupe and completing subsequent procedures according to the adopted mechanism.
The project comes as part of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission’s efforts to develop the traditional performing arts system and enable national talents to transform their artistic practices into more professional pathways, in addition to building a troupe that contributes to presenting local performing arts with artistic quality that reflects their diversity and richness, and enhances their presence in cultural occasions and forums locally and internationally.
