The Black Scorpion Cave, or Serdab Al Aqrab Al Aswad, is one of the peerless caves in the Northern Borders Region of Saudi Arabia.

With a depth of more than 500 meters underground, the Black Scorpion Cave has 3 corridors with varying widths and heights, in addition to several trenches.

The cave is haven for wolves, foxes and hyenas. Moreover, the Saudi National Center for Wildlife (NCW) found a number of Cheeta bodies in the cave two years ago.

The Black Scorpion Cave is located 160 kilometers west of Rafha Governorate, near Habakah village, one of the oldest known water resources in the Kingdom.

In the light of this, the cave explorer and member of the Afaq Society for Astronomy, Barjas Al-Fulaih, told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the number of caves and excavations discovered in the Northern Borders Region has reached 542.

He explained that the Black Scorpion Cave gained its name because when the moon is full, its light casts a horizontal shadow, making the cave’s entrance looks like a black scorpion.

According to Al-Fulaih, the Black Scorpion Cave is one of the prominent attractions for environmental and geological tourism. It is an ideal destination for cave tourism enthusiasts and adventurers, as well as researchers and academics who like to explore its contents.

Meanwhile, the Habakah region boasts a lot of tourist elements given the large number of caves it hosts, with their various types, sizes and geological components. The village is also distinguished by its diverse topography, as it includes plains, valleys, peaks and mountains.
