
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) reported a 13.61% year-on-year increase in container throughput for March 2025, handling 699,928 TEUs compared to 616,079 TEUs in March 2024.

Export container volumes saw a substantial rise of 31.82%, reaching 280,341 TEUs, up from 212,672 TEUs last year. Imported containers also posted a moderate increase of 7.78%, totaling 281,216 TEUs versus 260,912 TEUs in March 2024. However, transshipment volumes declined by 2.89%, with 138,371 TEUs handled, down from 142,495 TEUs in the same period last year.

Overall cargo tonnage—comprising general cargo, solid bulk, and liquid bulk—grew by 8.69% to 21,181,246 tons, compared to 19,488,335 tons in March 2024. This included 971,850 tons of general cargo, 4,515,924 tons of solid bulk, and 15,693,472 tons of liquid bulk.
Livestock imports saw a decline, with 870,566 animals received at the ports, representing a 9.42% drop from 961,131 head in the previous year.

Additionally, in February 2025, Mawani reported an 18.25% increase in exported containers, handling 215,491 TEUs compared to 182,229 TEUs in February 2024.
