Sindalah Island in NEOM: A New Global Destination for Luxury Tourism on the Red Sea

NEOM, the futuristic city in northwestern Saudi Arabia, has witnessed a significant milestone with the inauguration of Sindalah Island, a new global destination for luxury maritime tourism on the Red Sea coast.

The opening of Sindalah Island, the first NEOM destination to welcome visitors, marks the culmination of intensive efforts to accelerate progress on the city’s ambitious development projects, according to NEOM’s official website.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of NEOM’s Board of Directors, launched the island’s development project in December 2022. This project represents a qualitative leap in the Kingdom’s tourism sector.

An Architectural Gem in the Heart of the Red Sea

Sindalah Island is situated in the heart of the Red Sea’s clear turquoise waters, just 5 kilometers from the NEOM coastline. It was meticulously designed to blend natural beauty with modern architectural design, offering a diverse range of luxury amenities, including:

  • A world-class marina: Featuring 86 berths for yachts, the marina is a perfect destination for sailing enthusiasts.
  • Global hotels and restaurants: The island provides a variety of accommodation and dining options to cater to the tastes of visitors from around the world.
  • Golf courses: The beachfront golf club offers a unique golfing experience in stunning natural surroundings.
  • Diverse marine activities: Visitors can enjoy diving and exploring the coral reefs teeming with biodiversity.

Economic and Employment Opportunities

The opening of Sindalah Island is expected to create approximately 3,500 new jobs and boost the tourism and hospitality sectors in the Kingdom. The island is projected to receive about 2,400 visitors per day by 2028, contributing to the goals of Vision 2030.

On this occasion, Engineer Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, affirmed that the opening of Sindalah Island reflects NEOM’s commitment to supporting the luxury tourism sector in the Kingdom. He added that the island will provide a glimpse into the future of innovative development projects and distinctive destinations.
