The Crown Prince Camel Festival in Taif Governorate has highlighted the profound bond between camel racing and poetry. Poets have masterfully crafted verses that honor the distinctive traits of the competing camels, capturing their essence in enduring poetic form.
Poet Hussein Al-Kouri highlighted that the festival serves as a platform for poets to showcase their creativity and passion for camel racing. He pointed out that many poets, especially camel owners, often emphasize their camels, vividly describing their strengths, accomplishments, and physical qualities. Other poets may choose to concentrate on the festival itself, praising its facilities and the efforts made to ensure its success.
Al-Kouri highlighted that the Crown Prince Camel Festival has created new opportunities for poets to delve into a wide range of poetic styles and themes. He expressed his appreciation to the festival’s organizers, particularly Prince Fahad bin Jalawi, President of the International Camel Racing Federation, for their dedication to promoting camel racing and enriching the Kingdom’s cultural heritage.
