Saudi Play “Al-Naashoun” Takes Best Text Award at Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre
The Saudi production “Al-Naashoun” was honored with the Best Text Award during the closing ceremony of the 33rd Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre at the Cairo Opera House.
Penned by Fahd Rada Al-Harithi, the play attracted strong audience turnout and engagement, using live visual and musical storytelling to examine humanity’s contemporary relationship with life and death in a world marked by wars, epidemics and recurring crises.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Harithi said he conceived and wrote “Al-Naashoun” to highlight the human connection to life and death and to reflect on the epidemics, diseases, earthquakes and floods affecting the world today—observing that discourse around death has become more prevalent than discourse around life.
