Saudi Helicopter Company, one of the Public Investment Fund’s companies, announced today an additional order for 11 helicopters from Leonardo during the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom, which runs until July 24.
The 11 twin-engine medium AW139 helicopters are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2028, under the agreement signed at the HAI Heli-Expo, now known as Verticon, in 2024.
The additional order marks a key milestone in the multi-year framework agreement, which allows for the purchase of up to 130 helicopters. It also reinforces the company’s strategy of working with two leading original equipment manufacturers, alongside its disciplined approach to improving fleet efficiency, in a way that enhances its readiness to meet the evolving needs of the Kingdom’s aviation sector.
Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Helicopter Company Captain Arnaud Martinez said: “We are proud to expand the scope of our long-standing partnership, strengthening our leading position and operational capabilities within the region and beyond, building on our current fleet of AW139 helicopters, which has made Saudi Helicopter Company one of the largest and most prominent operators of this model worldwide.”
He also added that this order reflects the company’s continued expansion plans and contributes directly to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by supporting the development of a strong and dynamic aviation ecosystem.
