Saudi Defense Ministry Unveils Inaugural Military History Forum for September

The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced it will launch the first Saudi Military History Forum in September 2026.

This landmark event, held in coordination with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) and the Taif History Center at Taif University, seeks to preserve the Kingdom’s military legacy while tracing the strategic transformation of the Armed Forces across different eras.

The forum centers its academic focus around four primary pillars: the foundational military roots of the Kingdom, the pivotal role Taif Governorate played in the early Saudi Army, the chronological progression of the Armed Forces, and the primary sources used to document this national history.

By bringing together military science scholars and history experts, the Ministry intends to bridge the gap between academic institutions and military documentation centers to foster specialized research and high-level knowledge exchange, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Attendees can expect a diverse program consisting of peer-reviewed research presentations as well as specialized panel discussions led by subject matter experts. Beyond the lecture hall, the event features a historical exhibition and organized field tours to various military sites of significant heritage value.

In preparation for the event, the Ministry of Defense has opened a call for submissions via the King Abdulaziz Foundation’s digital portal.

Academics and researchers interested in contributing must submit their initial abstracts by May 15, 2026. Following the review of these summaries, the Ministry expects the submission of complete research papers no later than the final deadline of June 30, 2026.
