Saudi Arabia Brings Global Musical ‘WICKED’ to Riyadh in Regional Debut

Saudi Arabia will host the world-renowned musical “WICKED” on December 3 for the first time in the Middle East, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

In collaboration with Broadway Entertainment Group, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) will host the performances at the King Fahad Cultural Center in Riyadh.

Set to run until December 20, the “WICKED” will make its Middle East debut in Riyadh, kicking off its regional tour.

Hosting this acclaimed production serves a remarkable milestone in RCRC’s efforts to draw world-class cultural and artistic experiences in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

“Welcoming “WICKED” to the region for the first time reflects RCRC’s dedication to providing high-quality cultural and entertainment options for all segments of society, in line with the goals of the Quality of Life Program under Saudi Vision 2030,” Vice President of the Lifestyle Sector at RCRC, Engineer Khalid bin Abdullah Alhazani, said.

Stephen Schwartz, Composer and Lyricist of “WICKED,” noted that the performances will bring renewed energy and creativity to Riyadh.

“The production features the essence of our story, which celebrates friendship, love, and the courage to defend values and principles,” Schwartz added.

“WICKED” represents one of the world’s most prestigious musical productions, attracting the attention of more than 70 million viewers in over 130 cities across 25 countries.

Interestingly, the Riyadh performances will bring over 100 artists, technicians, and orchestra members, as well as large-scale stage designs that feature more than 350 costumes, as well as its most iconic musical numbers, such as “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and “For Good.”
