The opening round of the “Desert X Prix,” a key event in the “Extreme E” electric off-road racing series, kicked off yesterday in Qiddiya.
Organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport—and in partnership with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Qiddiya City—the event showcased top international racing talent and cutting-edge electric vehicle technology.

The first race saw a commanding performance from Kristoffersson Motorsport, with Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky taking first place. Moreover, the Hansen Motorsport duo, Norway’s Ole Christian Veiby and Hedda Hosås, secured second, while their teammates, Norwegian Andreas Bakkerud and Britain’s Catie Munnings, completed the podium in third.
In the redemption race, Jameel Motorsport’s Kevin Hansen (Sweden) and Molly Taylor (Australia) claimed victory. They were followed by the JBX team, featuring Finland’s Tommi Hallman and Spain’s Christine GZ, while Britain’s Patrick O’Donovan and the United States’ Amanda Sorensen of the STARD team finished third.

Finally, the championship will wrap up tomorrow with the second and final race, set to take place in the morning on a 3,127-meter-long course, varying in width from 10 to 60 meters.
