Well of Al-Faqir: Historical Landmark that Embodies Symbol of Prophet’s Righteousness, Charity

The Well of Al-Faqir in Medina now welcomes visitors of various nationalities after the completion of the restoration and development works on this historical landmark, which dates back over 14 centuries. It is considered one of the historical sites that embody aspects of charity and benevolence in the life of the Prophet of Mercy and Guidance, peace be upon him.
Al-Faqir Well is considered one of the historical wells in Al-Madinah. It is located in an area associated with the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), known as the “Area of the Prophetic Charities.” This area includes Al-Mitham, where Al-Faqir Well is located, as well as other locations such as Burqah, Al-Husna, Al-Dallal, Al-Aw’af, Maithab, Mashrabat Umm Ibrahim, and Al-Safiyah.
The circumference of the well of Al-Faqir is three meters, and when water is drawn, it passes through the channels over the aqueduct and then goes to the basin of Al-Faqir well. From the basin, the water is distributed to the orchards according to the allocations designated for the farms and orchards surrounding the well in the Al-Aliya area of Medina.
Al-Faqir’s Well is one of the landmarks that are intended to be developed within the project to develop Islamic historical monuments to enhance the cultural aspects associated with the historical heritage.
