Qassim Governor Highlights Global, Economic Impact of Buraidah Dates Carnival

Qassim Region Governor Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz yesterday sponsored the Buraidah Dates Carnival ceremony, attended by officials and leaders from the palm and date industries.
In his address, the governor praised the carnival’s outstanding achievements, including its Guinness World Records recognition as the world’s largest date festival and the launch of the International Date Route—a pioneering initiative that integrates economic, cultural, and tourism dimensions to strengthen Saudi dates’ presence in global markets and boost international trade.

Prince Faisal also commended the introduction of Date Diplomacy, a program designed to engage ambassadors and diplomatic missions in highlighting the cultural and economic significance of dates, thereby enhancing international cooperation. He also stressed that such initiatives reflect the Kingdom’s leadership in advancing this vital sector.

The governor further reviewed the carnival’s impressive results: weekly attendance exceeding 90,000 visitors, a 75-day run, SAR 3.2 billion in sales, more than 4,000 seasonal jobs created, and 578,000 tons of regional dates marketed. These figures, he noted, demonstrate the success of an integrated economic ecosystem driven by collaboration between public and private sectors.

Finally, prince Faisal concluded by expressing gratitude to the national leadership for its continued support of the region’s agricultural sector.
