Red Sea Global Expands LEED Platinum Portfolio with 5 New Sustainable Resorts

Red Sea Global has strengthened its leadership in sustainable hospitality after five resorts on Shura Island at The Red Sea destination achieved LEED Platinum certification—the highest level under the internationally recognized green building rating system.
The latest achievement brings the total number of LEED Platinum-certified hotels and resorts at The Red Sea to 10, representing 1,207 hotel keys across more than 236,000 square meters of certified built-up area. The milestone also positions Red Sea Global as the owner of the world’s largest portfolio of LEED Platinum-certified hotels and resorts.

LEED
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) recognizes buildings that meet rigorous standards for sustainability, evaluating factors such as energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality, and the use of environmentally responsible construction materials. The certification is designed to minimize environmental impact while enhancing the long-term performance of buildings.

The five newly certified properties include The Red Sea EDITION, InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, SLS The Red Sea, Four Seasons Resort and Residences The Red Sea, and Miraval The Red Sea. Each resort incorporates renewable energy systems, energy-efficient engineering solutions, sustainable building materials, and advanced technologies that support improved environmental performance.

Commenting on the achievement, Kai Dieckmann, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences The Red Sea, said the certification reflects the resort’s commitment to embedding sustainability throughout the guest experience while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and Red Sea Global’s broader environmental strategy.

Looking ahead, Red Sea Global plans to open six additional resorts on Shura Island, all of which are in the advanced stages of securing LEED certification this year. The expansion is expected to further reinforce The Red Sea’s position as a leading sustainable tourism destination while contributing to Saudi Arabia’s vision of building a tourism sector that delivers lasting environmental, social, and economic value.
