The Red Sea Museum in Jeddah’s Historic District has displayed rare collection of coral prayer beads, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The collection provides visitors a distinctive glimpse into the region’s rich artisanal heritage.
The beads are crafted from yusr, a distinctive black coral with a polished sheen that has long been associated with the artisanal traditions of the Red Sea.
There is a close connection between prayer beads and Hajj and Umrah journeys, with pilgrims usually taking them as gifts for family and friends.
The Red Sea Museum boasts a wide range of exhibits that showcase the Kingdom’s rich maritime heritage.
The museum also emerges as a leading tourist destination, standing out as a unique platform for enhancing cultural dialogue and promoting knowledge exchange.
These initiatives are part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to revitalize Historic Jeddah and reinforce its position as a global cultural hub, in line with the advanced objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
