Saudi Broadcasting Authority Launches “1% Challenge,” 1st Arabic Version of Global Show

The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) will launch the quiz show “1% Challenge” on SBC on November 9, marking the first Arabic adaptation of the global format “The 1% Club.” The program will run across 13 episodes.
A total of 1,300 contestants, selected by the authority from 5,000 applicants, will take part in the show. The selection process was based on specific criteria, tests and evaluations, with 100 contestants appearing in each episode.
Contestants will test their mental abilities through 15 questions based on logical thinking, observation, analysis and deduction, rather than general knowledge or memorization.

The competition begins with questions that 90% of a reference sample could answer correctly, then increases in difficulty until the final challenge, which only 1% of the sample was able to answer.
Each contestant receives one pass card, which can be used to skip one question from the 50% stage through the 5% stage. The card cannot be used on the final question.
Each contestant begins with SAR 2,500. They may withdraw and keep the amount before reaching the 30% question, or continue competing for the grand prize of up to SAR 250,000.
Saudi version
A team of specialists designed the Saudi version’s set under the direct supervision of BBC Studios Limited, which holds the rights to the global format. The aim is to present a Saudi version with a more visually striking treatment.
The launch of “1% Challenge” follows the global success of the format, which originated in the United Kingdom and has since expanded to several international markets. It will now reach Arab audiences for the first time through SBC.
