AlUla Showcases Dadan’s Ancient Heritage and Cultural Legacy

AlUla Governorate has highlighted the ancient city of Dadan, once the capital of the Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms, through a historic exhibition, according to Arab News.

Titled “Illuminating Discoveries — Uncovering the Layers of Dadan’s History,” the exhibition showed the archaeological richness and cultural legacy of Dadan, providing an immersive experience.

The event also spotlighted the city’s enduring regional and global significance through thoughtfully curated narratives and documented findings.

Therefore, visitors can enjoy a carefully curated chronological journey that offers rare glimpses into daily life, traditional crafts, and ancient beliefs.

To further enrich the experience, the exhibition displayed an extraordinary collection of stone inscriptions and over 100 artifacts.

These findings, uncovered during recent excavations in Dadan and the Umm Daraj site, have been studied under international scientific supervision.

The exhibition also traces the evolution of crafts and industries in Dadan, such as metalwork and textile production.

Furthermore, the exhibition featured a vast array of artifacts, including crafted copper spearheads, statues bearing clear Greek influence, and Minaean inscriptions that document patterns of trade and exchange. These exhibits reflect the city’s role as a vibrant commercial hub along ancient trade routes.

Overall, the discoveries stand as a testament to the expanding trade and cultural networks that linked northwest Arabia with Mediterranean civilizations.
