The Al-Baha Region is among the Kingdom’s most important agricultural areas, thanks to its fertile soil, abundant groundwater, and flowing valleys throughout the year. Vineyards across the region and its governorates not only enrich the landscape but also produce high-quality grape harvests known for their abundance and variety.

Grape cultivation in Al-Baha is more than an economic activity—it is a tradition passed down from fathers and grandfathers. Today, many young people are pursuing this heritage despite the challenges, reflecting values of perseverance, sustainability, and care for the land.

Strong Production, Expanding Cultivation
According to Fahad Al-Zahrani, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s Al-Baha branch, grape farming is a promising sector drawing greater interest from farmers. Currently, 51 hectares of vineyards yield about 772 tons of grapes annually, making it a significant contributor to the region’s agricultural output.

Grape City Project
A major step forward for the sector is the Grape City Project in Baljurashi Governorate. Covering an area of 790,000 square meters, the project aims to create an integrated hub for grape production. Facilities for sorting, packaging, refrigeration, and marketing will enhance product quality, improve competitiveness in local markets, and connect farmers directly with consumers through organized sales channels.

The Ministry’s Al-Baha branch is actively working to empower grape farmers with financial and technical support. Through the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (REEF), farmers have received assistance to boost production efficiency. In addition, the Organic Agriculture Program has supported farms in obtaining organic certification and adopting eco-friendly practices, raising the quality and market value of Al-Baha grapes.
