Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, has introduced the “Share Item Location” feature from Apple to streamline baggage recovery, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
With this new feature, Saudia passengers can privately and securely locate lost or delayed baggage equipped with an AirTag or Find My network accessory and return them.
This process enables travelers to generate a secure Share Item Location link through the Find My app on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac devices, and submit it via Saudia‘s digital portal.
For added security, the location sharing is automatically deactivated upon baggage recovery. It also expires after 7 days and can be stopped manually at any time.
Travelers who have Apple device updated to iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, or macOS 15.2 or later can access this feature.
On this occasion, the Chief Data and Technology Officer of Saudia Group, Abdulgader Attiah, emphasized the significance of launching the “Share Item Location” feature.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to digital transformation, we are elevating the guest experience through cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions,” he said.
He also praised this collaboration with Apple, saying that “this integration of Apple’s Share Item Location feature underscores our dedication to providing world-class service and setting new standards in the aviation industry.”
The “Share Item Location” taps into Apple’s Find My network, a vast collection of over a billion Apple devices, which use Bluetooth to securely and anonymously find lost items nearby in a totally encrypted process.
