Riyadh Film Music Festival Strengthens Role of Music in Films

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has formally launched the second annual Riyadh Film Music Festival, attracting musicians, directors and filmmakers within the Kingdom and across the world, according to the Saudi Press Agency. 

Set to run until August 9 at the Red Hall in Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, the festival aims to improve public understanding and appreciation of the role of music in film.

Therefore, the festival will screen four international films: Top Gun: Maverick, Pirates of the Caribbean, Back to the Future, and The Lion King.

Furthermore, it will display live musical performances during film screenings, offering audiences an extraordinary atmosphere that shows and reintroduces the powerful role of music in cinematic storytelling.

Interestingly, the opening night featured a live orchestral performance that exceptionally blended visuals and sound, with musical pieces from some of the world’s most renowned films. 

The event also boasted live orchestral performances of works by renowned composers, such as “He’s a Pirate” from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Alan Silvestri’s music from Back to the Future, as well as Hans Zimmer’s iconic work from The Lion King.

The Riyadh Film Music Festival 2025 coincides with the city’s hosting of the Esports World Cup, reflecting the RCRC’s ongoing efforts to enhance cultural and artistic activity as well as foster diverse art forms in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
