Saudi Arabia’s Diriyah has been chosen among the Travel Green List 2025, released by the British Wanderlust Travel Magazine. The list highlights the world’s most committed destinations to sustainable tourism.
This achievement is the result of joint cooperation between the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) and Diriyah Company, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The recognition of Diriyah as one of the world’s most dedicated destinations to sustainable tourism came as a culmination of the comprehensive nomination file submitted, which showcased Diriyah Company’s initiatives in environmental, cultural, and tourism sustainability.
Diriyah is undergoing an ambitious and pioneering redevelopment, aimed at creating a green and highly liveable city which incorporates eco-friendly elements of its past, such as Najdi mud-brick architecture and design. This contributes to passively regulating temperature and reducing energy use.
Moreover, this accomplishment underscores the growing global presence of Saudi Arabia in the tourism sector, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Kingdom has made major strides towards achieving its ambitious objectives. In 2024, Saudi Arabia received around 116 million visitors, moving closer towards realizing the target of welcoming 150 million visitors by 2030.
On this occasion, the CEO and member of the board of the STA, Fahd Hamidaddin, emphasized that the selection of Diriyah among the Wanderlust Travel Green List 2025 reaffirms Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing sustainability in the tourism sector.
Similarly, the Diriyah Company Group CEO, Jerry Inzerillo, took pride in this international recognition of Diriyah, the birthplace of the Saudi State. He added that this achievement highlights Diriyah’s efforts to preserve its rich heritage and implement the highest environmental and cultural sustainability standards in its projects.
