Unique Display: Kaaba Kiswa to Debut at Islamic Arts Biennale 2025

In a first-of-its-kind display, visitors of the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 will have the chance to explore the full cover (Kiswa) of the Holy Kaaba.

Running from January 25 to May 25, 2025 at the Western Hajj Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the second edition of the event will showcase the Kaaba Kiswa for the first time outside of Makkah, according to a press release by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation.

Under the theme “All That Is In Between,” the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 will introduce visitors to the Kiswa, its history and development throughout the centuries. Furthermore, it will offer a unique showcase for the arts, artifacts and craftsmanship associated with the Kiswa.

At the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, visitors will be able to take a closer look at the intricate weaving and embroidery of the Kaaba Kiswa, featuring silk, gold, and silver threads.

The event will also display a large collection of Islamic historical artifacts and contemporary artworks that inspire visitors to reflect on richness of Islamic civilization and its artistic expressions.

The Kaaba Kiswa is one of the most important elements of Islamic arts. Its display strengthens the sense of pride in Islamic cultural heritage and provides the public with a deeper understanding of the unmatched craftsmanship in making the Kaaba Kiswa.

Moreover, the showcase of the Kaaba Kiswa underscores the pivotal role of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims, and aligns with its custodianship of the Two Holy Mosques and Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to enrich the religious and cultural experiences of pilgrims and preserve the Kingdom’s Islamic heritage.
