Saudi Tourism Authority Sets Sights on 18.8 Million Tourists

The Saudi Tourism Authority has set ambitious goals for the summer of 2024, aiming to attract over 18.8 million tourists and generate an estimated 40 billion SAR in economic impact. To achieve this, the Authority is collaborating closely with private-sector tourism partners to elevate the Saudi Summer Program and position the Kingdom as a global tourism leader.
A Unified Vision for National Success
Led by Ahmed bin Aqil Al-Khatib, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Saudi Tourism Authority, the recent workshop with tourism stakeholders emphasized collaboration and integration to ensure the program’s success. The summer initiative, running through September, spans seven major destinations across Saudi Arabia, offering over 550 tourism products and 150 special offers developed in partnership with the private sector.
“The private tourism sector is essential to implementing, showcasing, and ensuring the success of tourism initiatives and programs,” Al-Khatib stressed during the event. He also reiterated that the goal of the Saudi Summer Program, under the slogan ‘Tara,’ is to not only promote domestic tourism but also attract international visitors by leveraging the Kingdom’s unique offerings.
Empowering the Private Sector
Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, shared that the organization aims to attract over 18.8 million leisure tourists this summer, contributing to an estimated 40 billion SAR in spending. To achieve this, the Authority is focused on empowering the private sector by providing resources, launching joint promotional campaigns, and developing compelling packages and offers. One of the standout initiatives is the newly launched Partners Award, which encourages innovation and excellence among tourism providers.
A Vision for Domestic and International Growth
Minister Al-Khatib also underscored the importance of the private sector in driving the Kingdom’s tourism industry forward. He called for travel agencies, hospitality providers, and airlines to align their efforts with domestic tourism, offering tailored packages for both local and international tourists.
As Saudi Arabia continues to develop its tourism infrastructure, the Saudi Tourism Authority’s commitment to Vision 2030 is evident. By fostering public-private collaboration, supporting innovation, and positioning the Kingdom as a tourism hub, Saudi Arabia is poised to achieve unprecedented growth in the sector.
Looking Ahead
The Saudi Tourism Authority’s summer campaign is just one part of a larger vision to solidify Saudi Arabia’s place on the global tourism map. With a focus on cultural heritage, luxury experiences, and world-class facilities, the Kingdom is fast becoming a go-to destination for travelers seeking unique experiences. The success of the Saudi Summer Program will not only stimulate the Kingdom’s economy but also pave the way for long-term growth in the global tourism market.
By continuing to invest in its tourism infrastructure and fostering partnerships with the private sector, Saudi Arabia is well on its way to achieving its tourism goals, one summer at a time.
