Historic Jeddah marked Saudi National Day with a diverse program of cultural, artistic, and heritage events held across several sites in the district. The activities offered visitors experiences combining music, art, crafts, folk traditions, and community engagement, reflecting the national identity among the district’s architectural landmarks listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Running from September 19 to 26, the program includes live musical performances and cultural workshops at the Red Sea Museum, as well as interactive experiences at Zawiya 97, featuring instant photography, musical shows, and handicraft workshops. Diyab Coffee also hosted a heritage celebration with folk performances and Saudi coffee and dates served to visitors.
Athar
The Tarek Abdulhakim Museum offered free interactive music workshops for children and families, combining learning with creativity. The Athar events also gave visitors access to art exhibitions, sculptural works, live musical performances, and photography experiences.
The celebrations coincided with the launch of the 27th Gulf Houses Cup in Jeddah. Historic Jeddah hosted studios for Qatar’s Alkass Channel and Thmanyah, along with guests from the media and sports sectors, providing an opportunity to showcase the district’s cultural and heritage experiences.
The events reflect the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to strengthen Historic Jeddah’s role as a living heritage site and a hub for culture and creativity. By using its squares, historic houses, and museums, the program connects residents and visitors with the district’s history and heritage through a wide range of cultural experiences.
These efforts form part of the ministry’s broader work to revive Historic Jeddah, preserve its tangible and intangible heritage, activate its urban and cultural spaces, and reinforce its position as an international destination for heritage, culture, and the arts. The initiative is aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Culture Strategy.
