Abo Noghta Castles Join List of World’s Best Tourism Villages

Abo Noghta Castles and Historic Tabab, located in Aseer Region, have achieved a remarkable milestone in establishing their status as renowned tourist attractions.

The UN Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has included the prominent archeological sites among its list for the world’s best tourism villages in 2024, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Abo Noghta Castles are located in the Historic Tabab town, encompassing six forts and palaces. They feature a spectacular architectural style that highlights Aseer’s unique heritage, with their rocky stones, and white marble-trimmed windows and edges. Moreover, Abo Noghta Castles overlook the banks of the Tabab Valley, in a wonderful natural landscape that adds to the site’s beauty.

The inclusion of Abo Noghta Castles in the UNWTO’s list of the world’s best tourism villages was announced during a ceremony in Cartagena, Colombia. On this occasion, the Saudi Tourism Minister, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, expressed excitement for this achievement, saying that the recognition of Abo Noghta Castles among the world’s best tourism villages emphasizes the historical and archeological diversity of Saudi Arabia’s tourist destinations.

Furthermore, Al-Khateeb added that this international recognition underscores the site’s rich history and cultural heritage that date back hundreds of years ago. He said that the Saudi Ministry of Tourism has cooperated with other government agencies to support the nomination of Abo Noghta Castles, adding that this aligns with the Ministry’s efforts to showcase the Kingdom’s rural heritage globally.

Moreover, Al-Khateeb said that this achievement enhances Saudi Arabia’s efforts to establish its status as a global tourist destination that offers a diverse range of natural, historical and cultural attractions.
