The Ministry of Culture launched a project to document elements of intangible cultural heritage in Al-Ahsa Governorate. It is one of several projects the Ministry is working on to document and digitize the memory of Saudi culture, and preserve the rich fabric of cultural heritage in the Kingdom.
The project includes conducting a comprehensive survey of elements of intangible cultural heritage in Al-Ahsa, including knowledge and practices related to nature and the universe, oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, skills in handmade cultural industries, and traditional arts. Additionally, it aims to digitally document these elements to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The Ministry of Culture aims, through this project, to document the intangible cultural heritage in all its forms in the Al-Ahsa region, preserve it, and ensure the continuity of this cultural legacy for future generations. This includes instilling pride in the cultural identity of the Kingdom and achieving the objectives of the National Cultural Strategy, under the umbrella of Vision 2030.
