Saudi Arabia’s Coffee Company Academy has unveiled “Best Agricultural Practices” program to boost coffee cultivation practices in Aseer region.
The Kingdom has a long history of coffee consumption due to the Saudi culture that considers coffee as an expression of hospitality and welcome. In 2021, the Saudi Ministry of Culture designated 2022 as “The Year of Saudi Coffee,” celebrating an integral part of the Kingdom’s social traditions.

The Saudi authorities have recently given special support to coffee bean farms in Jazan to foster the coffee production and support the farmers.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the program aims to provide farmers, entrepreneurs and coffee enthusiasts with advanced skills under the supervision of internationally recognized experts.

Designed to provide an exceptional educational experience, the six-day initiative will include theoretical and practical workshops covering a vast array of aspects such as nursery management, field preparation, shade tree maintenance, and modern fertilization techniques.

After the program’s remarkable success in Jazan and Baha, which benefitted several farmers, the Aseer program aspires to strengthen coffee cultivation in the southern regions of the Kingdom, where coffee is an integral part of the cultural heritage.
These promising programs stand as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Saudi Coffee Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, to fostering sustainable agriculture, diversifying the national economy, and creating job opportunities for national cadres.

To achieve that end, the academy was established to offer training programs on cultivation, production, sensory evaluation, cafe management, and entrepreneurship.
