The Riyadh Theater Festival is returning this December for a third edition, offering attractive awards for the winning theatrical performances.
This year’s edition of the Riyadh Theater Festival will take place from December 15-25, 2025, at the Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University. It will feature competition among ten Saudi theatrical performances across multiple categories, the Saudi Theater and Performing Arts Commission announced.
The competition will involve multiple phases, starting with carefully selecting theatrical performances by a specialized experts panel. After that, the production process begins and the experts panel evaluates the theatrical performances. Then, the panel selects which performances will qualify to the final competition.
The Riyadh Theater Festival 2025 aims to enhance Saudi Arabia’s cultural and artistic landscape and boost the Kingdom’s theatrical scene by promoting Saudi troupes. It also aims to foster Saudi talent, support local production and advance the theater critical movement in Saudi Arabia.
In the two previous editions, which took place in 2023 and 2024, the festival featured a wide range of events and activities, such as workshops, intellectual seminars, and an exhibition to honor prominent figures.
The festival underscores the Saudi Theater and Performing Arts Commission’s commitment to supporting creativity in the theatrical arts and enhancing Saudi theater’s presence on the regional and international stage.
