The Ministry of Sport’s regular sports sector conference yesterday reviewed the latest developments involving sports clubs, facilities and preparations for the upcoming season. It also highlighted major achievements under various programs and initiatives designed to support the growth of Saudi Arabia’s sports sector.
Discussing recent upgrades and infrastructure projects, the conference confirmed the completion of the Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud University Stadium, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The facility now has a capacity of more than 25,000 seats.
The conference also reported progress on the development of King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. The first phase is focused on preparing the venue to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, while the second phase will include upgrades announced by FIFA in preparation for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
It added that most stadiums designated to host World Cup matches will be built in accordance with the highest standards and specifications. Several technologies will also be used at King Fahd International Stadium for the first time.
The conference further reviewed the achievements of the Clubs Support Strategy Program since its launch, as well as an initiative aimed at increasing commercial revenues through commercial activities and sponsorships.
