The World Pool Championship 2025 has kicked off at the Green Halls in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea city, bringing together renowned stars from around the world, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Organized by the Saudi Billiard and Snooker Federation, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Sport and Matchroom Pool, the global tournament is taking place from July 21-26, 2025, with the participation of 128 elite stars from more than 40 countries, including the US, Germany, the Philippines, Poland, and the UK, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria, Türkiye, and New Zealand.
Moreover, the World Pool Championship 2025 features a world-renowned lineup of contestants, including American World Champion, Fedor Gorst; the Spanish star, Francisco Sánchez Ruiz; the US pool player, Shane Van Boening; Filipino star, Carlo Biado; the German player, Joshua Filler; Chinese Taipei’s Ko Pin Yi; and the British star, Jayson Shaw.

Additionally, many players from Saudi Arabia, World Nineball Tour (WNT) professionals, players invited by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), and qualifiers from international play-offs are taking part in the competition.
The tournament consists of 233 matches, starting with a double-elimination format where players need to win two matches in race-to-nine racks to qualify for the next phase. The single elimination phase includes 64 players contesting in race-to-11 racks, until the championship’s final, featuring a race-to-15 contest.
Taking place in Jeddah for the second consecutive year, the World Pool Championship 2025 offers a lucrative prize pool of $1 million, including $250,000 for the champion.
The World Pool Championship 2025 underscores Jeddah’s status as a prestigious hub for global sports events. It also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s strategy to boost its global presence across niche sports, to further support the objectives of Vision 2030 to diversify sport activities and promote seasonal tourism.
