Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has launched the AI Tourism Vision, a national strategy aimed at integrating artificial intelligence across the tourism sector to improve visitor experiences, boost operational efficiency and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global tourism innovation hub.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader push to accelerate digital transformation and supports the goals of the Riyadh Declaration on the Future of Tourism, adopted at the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly, which called for wider adoption of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.
The strategy outlines a framework for building a more efficient and sustainable tourism ecosystem by applying AI throughout the visitor journey, supporting tourism businesses and investors, and equipping the workforce with advanced digital tools.
TourismX
As part of the initiative, the ministry launched TourismX, a global AI platform designed to serve as digital infrastructure for the tourism sector. Additionally, the platform is intended to help destinations, businesses and service providers use artificial intelligence to design, manage and deliver tourism services.
The beta version of TourismX includes a range of AI-powered tools for tourism professionals, including applications for hotel interior design, menu creation, brand identity development, hotel standard operating procedures, tour guide assistance and tour script generation.
Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb said artificial intelligence is transforming how destinations are discovered, tourism experiences are developed and services are managed, adding that the strategy aims to make the sector more innovative, efficient and sustainable.
He said the ministry is using AI to improve visitor experiences, support investors and increase productivity across the tourism industry, with the goal of establishing Saudi Arabia as a global leader in smart tourism.
The ministry also introduced the beta version of the Saudi MT App, which brings together its digital services on a single platform for investors, tourism businesses, tour guides and other users. The application includes an AI assistant named Noura.
MT Developer Portal
To support technology development, the ministry launched the MT Developer Portal, providing developers and technology partners with access to APIs and digital integration tools to build new tourism applications and services.
The latest announcements build on several digital initiatives introduced by the ministry, including the Smart Inspector, used by field inspection teams during the 1447 Hajj season, and the Smart Check-In system, developed to improve the management of pilgrim accommodation.
The ministry said it will continue expanding its integrated digital ecosystem to streamline services, improve efficiency and prepare the tourism sector for rapid technological change.
The AI Tourism Vision was announced during the Year of AI 2026, designated by the Council of Ministers chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The ministry said the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to strengthen its role in artificial intelligence and support national development through advanced technologies.
The strategy also supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which identifies tourism as a key driver of economic diversification, job creation and long-term growth.
