Razane Jammal’s Children’s Book Selected for Miss World Literacy Initiative

Miss Lebanon 2025, Perla Harb, is set to showcase Lebanese culture on an international platform by contributing a children’s book by actress and author Razane Jammal to the Miss World Children’s Library initiative.
Harb has chosen Jammal’s Lulu and Blu for inclusion in the global project, which invites contestants from around the world to donate a book that reflects their nation’s culture, heritage and values. The initiative also aims to foster literacy and cross-cultural understanding among young readers through a diverse collection of stories from different countries.
Beauty With Purpose
The library is part of the Miss World organization’s “Beauty With a Purpose” program, which supports charitable and educational projects. Over the years, the initiative has introduced children to a wide range of traditions, cultures and perspectives from across the globe.
By selecting Lulu and Blu, Harb brings a contemporary Lebanese voice to the international collection. Jammal, a British-Lebanese actress, is widely recognized for her work in international productions including Paranormal, The Sandman and A Walk Among the Tombstones.
Turning Point Books
Published by Turning Point Books in 2024, the book features illustrations by Lebanese artist Sasha Haddad, a graduate of the Cambridge School of Arts. The story follows two young friends—a vegetarian lioness and a friendly fish—as they embark on adventures that explore friendship, curiosity and self-discovery. Moreover, drawing on Jammal’s multicultural background, the book encourages children to embrace diversity, kindness and imagination.

Marking the book’s launch in June 2025, Jammal wrote on social media: “What started as a little story I wrote seven years ago turned into a book for your little ones. I’ve poured my heart into this and I’m thrilled to invite you all to our first launch in Beirut.”
Jammal has also continued to expand her acting career. In May 2026, she attracted attention for taking on her first leading role in an Arab production with Asad, a period drama directed by Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab, known internationally for directing Marvel’s Moon Knight. The film stars Jammal alongside Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan.
