Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has supported the smart mobility network with a new autonomous vehicle route in Riyadh for passenger transport, connecting Hayat Mall and Riyadh Gallery Mall, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The new route stands out as an integral part of the TGA’s broader strategy to expand autonomous vehicle operations across multiple locations in the Kingdom, while accelerating the adoption of smart mobility solutions within the transport sector.
To ensure a safe, reliable, and innovative transportation experience for passengers, the autonomous vehicles will operate daily under direct regulatory and technical supervision.
The move followed the successful implementation of a previous phase, during which several routes were activated. The vehicles completed more than 1,700 trips and transported over 3,000 passengers.
The fleet covered a combined distance of more than 30,000 kilometers, mirroring the remarkable success of the initiative and the operational readiness for expansion, with plans underway to launch additional routes in the near future.
