The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has released its 2025 annual report for the regulatory affairs sector, revealing that Saudi Arabia’s entertainment industry drew more than 89 million visitors last year.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), these figures highlight the sector’s rapid growth and the success of a regulatory framework built to enhance experience quality, improve compliance, and streamline procedures.
Surge in Entertainment Activity
The report details a high-energy year, with the sector hosting 1,690 events totaling 75,661 event days. Participation was equally strong, with 6,778 companies engaging in entertainment activities throughout 2025.
Licensing also saw significant momentum, with 6,490 licenses issued over the year. The number of licensed entertainment destinations grew by 12%, rising from 422 in 2024 to 472 in 2025.
Most notably, the total number of active entertainment destinations surged to 975, nearly doubling the 513 destinations recorded the previous year.
GEA Regulations
Key performance indicators show that investor adherence to GEA regulations reached 92%, while authorized events and licensed destinations achieved compliance rates of 95% and 93%, respectively.
Additionally, the quality of entertainment options recorded a 65% improvement, with visitor satisfaction tracking currently covering 74% of the sector’s offerings.
Enhanced oversight and increased investor awareness contributed to a 25.8% reduction in violations, which dropped from 6,290 in 2024 to 4,662 in 2025.
This improvement was supported by a massive inspection campaign involving 92,025 monitoring visits across all administrative regions of the Kingdom.
Strategic Milestones
Visitor satisfaction reached an impressive 95% across the sector, a figure verified by more than 755,000 survey responses and 9,400 field inspections focused on quality control.
The GEA also reached major regulatory milestones, issuing 1,132 investor certificates and conducting over 3,500 field visits to maintain excellence.
On the consumer advocacy front, GEA handled nearly 6,000 complaints, while collaborating with 45 government entities to modernize the industry’s legislative framework.
As the primary regulator for the industry, the GEA continues to transform the national entertainment landscape in alignment with Vision 2030. By focusing on investor empowerment and superior service delivery, the authority is solidifying Saudi Arabia’s status as a leading global entertainment destination.
