The Makkah Taxi service has revolutionized the city’s transportation network and enhanced the overall pilgrim experience since its launch on January 13, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Operating 24 hours a day, the service includes 47 strategic locations throughout Makkah, including major stations and areas surrounding the Grand Mosque. Therefore, it offers pilgrims easy, reliable access to modern taxi services.
The taxi also boosts the overall mobility of residents and pilgrims and decreases traffic congestion within the holy city.
To further ensure safety and reliability, the fleet meets the latest global specifications, featuring in-vehicle surveillance cameras, passenger-counting sensors, an emergency button for rapid response, along with a dedicated call center.
By launching the Makkah Taxi service, the Royal Commission for Mecca City and Holy Sites (RCMC) underscored its commitment to fostering the transportation experience for pilgrims and locals, particularly during peak times such as Hajj and Umrah seasons.
Looking ahead, the Makkah Taxi fleet is expected to reach nearly 1,800 vehicles by the end of 2025, marking a remarkable expansion aimed at accommodating the city’s growing demand for efficient transport services.
Interestingly, the fleet will also offer eco-friendly vehicles and other operational strategies to reduce environmental impact.
