The arrival of autumn marks the beginning of pomegranate season in Asir, as the fruit takes a center stage in local farms, markets, and festivals, according to Arab News.
The people of Asir considered pomegranate as a symbol of identity and a source of support for local farmers and families.
Pomegranate cultivation dates back hundreds of years. The relationship between the farmer and the pomegranate tree is like a lifelong journey that spans from childhood until old age.
Traditional cultivation methods have witnessed remarkable evolution throughout ages. In the past, farmers used to transport crops by camel to neighboring markets. However, in the present time, farmers use advanced agricultural practices and transportation methods.

Pomegranates are rich in antioxidants, vitamins C and K, fiber, and iron _ nutrients essential for boosting immunity and supporting heart health.
The season provides a vital source of income for many farmers and families, boosting markets and attracting visitors through festivals organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
The region currently gears up for several festivals, held across governorates such as Sarat Abidah, Dhahran Al-Janoub, Al-Farsha, Balqarn, Ahad Rufaidah, Balhmar, Al-Ghail, along with Balsamer.
