The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has added Hapag-Lloyd’s SE4 shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The new route marks a strategic move aimed at boosting the Kingdom’s maritime competitiveness and strengthening global trade connectivity.
The shipping service also offers direct connections from Jeddah to key global ports, including Tianjin Xingang, Qingdao, Ningbo, and Shanghai in China, Busan in South Korea, and Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia, further supporting the Kingdom’s pivotal role in international maritime trade.
The new service connects key centers in the western and eastern Mediterranean, while extending to Singapore.
With a capacity of up to 17,000 standard containers, the new route reinforces Jeddah’s position as a central gateway in global maritime trade.
This initiative represents an integral part of Mawani’s broader efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s standing in global performance indices, facilitate the flow of national exports, and realize the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics.
