Al-Jawhara bint Abdulaziz Al-Dawood Mosque marks the first modern, environmentally friendly mosque in the Iskan neighborhood in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi Gazette.
As a fully equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the mosque boasts integrated services which make it a major part of the local community’s daily life.
Abdulaziz Al-Furaij, Director of Mosque Operations at the Integrated Mosques Company, stated that the newly opened mosque represents one of the largest smart mosques in the Kingdom.
As an environmentally friendly mosque, Al-Jawhara Mosque features several smart mechanisms such as an advanced mechanism for instant monitoring and reading of water and electricity consumption.
Furthermore, this mechanism allows users to control the operation and shutdown process of these components in order to decrease energy consumption and reach the optimal consumption of the mosque.
The mosque serves all categories of society in the neighborhood, including children, men and women, as well as people with disabilities, through special smart technologies.
It is worth noting that the mosque is only 20 centimeters above the ground which means that the elderly and people with disabilities can easily enter the mosque without asking for help.
As for deaf people, the lighting of the minaret changes at the time of the call to prayer to grasp their attention.
Al-Furaij revealed that the mosque will cooperate with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance to improve its special facilities. Moreover, he said that there are other plans to build similar mosques in all regions of the Kingdom.
