The Saudi Fashion Commission announced the launching of a new initiative to promote sustainable practices in fashion. The Future of Sustainability Initiative is an innovative program that aims to raise consumer awareness of fashion recycling, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The new initiative is a groundbreaking sustainable program which aims to enhance fashion recycling in retail stores throughout the Kingdom. To this end, the Future of Sustainability Initiative distributes recycling bins across Saudi shopping centers to encourage the public and private sectors to engage in fashion recycling practices.
Moreover, the Future of Sustainability Initiative highlights the Saudi Fashion Commission’s commitment to the sustainability pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to promote sustainable practices in the fashion industry and increase the consumer awareness in that regard.
The initiative also targets the development of a circular textile recycling system, in addition to raising the public awareness of fashion recycling significance.
The Saudi Fashion Commission has launched several initiatives to promote sustainability in the fashion industry. In February 2025, the Commission launched the Sustainable Ihram Initiative, an innovative program that aims to transform previously used Ihram garments into new, sustainable Ihrams through a circular textile recycling system.
These initiatives mark a major milestone towards a more sustainable fashion ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, in line with the ambitious objectives of Vision 2030.
