Riyadh Art, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, has announced the completion of an installation featuring sculptures by Italian artist Davide Rivalta at Al-Nafal Park in the Diplomatic Quarter. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance public art and enrich the urban landscape with works that explore the relationship between humanity and nature.
Echoes of Land
Under the theme “Echoes of Land,“ Rivalta’s sculptures offer a seamless artistic integration with the surrounding environment. Moreover, the sculpted animals, set against the desert landscape and the oasis-like tranquility of Al-Nafal Park, evoke historical connections between these creatures and their natural habitats.
Sculptures That Symbolize Wildlife, Conservation
The collection includes sculptures of a cheetah, lion, lioness, and buffalo, each rendered in a silent yet powerful presence that invites contemplation. The installation provides an artistic experience that highlights the interaction between humans and wildlife while emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and the protection of endangered species. Drawing inspiration from natural symbols—such as the cheetah, once native to the Arabian Peninsula—the works serve as a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between urban development and nature.
Transformative Public Experience
“This collaboration with Davide Rivalta has been an enriching artistic endeavor that aligns with Riyadh Art’s vision of engaging the public through meaningful and impactful artwork,” said Omar AlBraik, Senior Director of Public Art at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). “Art is more than an aesthetic element; it is a transformative force that reshapes public spaces, sparks dialogue, and deepens the connection between individuals and their surroundings in unexpected ways.”
AlBraik further noted, “By showcasing Rivalta’s works in Riyadh, we continue to expand the city’s artistic landscape, foster creative expression, and ensure that diverse artistic perspectives reach all segments of the community.”
Merging Art with Cultural, Natural Heritage
The installation at Al-Nafal Park represents a cultural dialogue where artistic creativity intersects with natural heritage, encouraging interaction between art and the environment. Additionally, this immersive experience brings elements of wildlife into an urban setting, symbolizing the enduring relationship between humans and nature.
Ongoing Mission, Vision
This collaboration marks another milestone in Riyadh Art’s mission to transform the city into an open-air gallery, integrating creative works that celebrate cultural and artistic diversity while enhancing the visual experience for residents and visitors alike.
Since its launch in 2019, Riyadh Art has introduced over 550 public artworks, engaged 500 local and international artists, and hosted 6,500 community engagement activities, attracting millions of visitors. The program aspires to expand its collection to over 1,000 works, further strengthening the city’s cultural identity in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
