Saudi Crown Prince Launches Annual Blood Donation Campaign

The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, has donated blood, launching the annual national blood donation campaign.

The Crown Prince‘s gracious gesture is part of his generous patronage for humanitarian work, and encourages all society segments to donate blood, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

It also underscores his commitment to fostering community participation, establishing a culture of voluntary donation, and supporting national efforts to achieve a 100% voluntary blood donation, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 which targets a vibrant society that enjoys a healthy lifestyle.

The blood donation campaign is an extension of the Saudi leadership’s unwavering support for humanitarian efforts across various fields, including receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and enrolling in the national organ-donation program.

Moreover, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary donations and achieving self-sufficiency in blood supplies to ensure the availability of safe and sustainable stocks that meet the needs of the Kingdom’s population.

In the light of this, SPA pointed out that a single donation can save lives by supplying a unit of blood, plasma, or platelets. In 2024, more than 800,000 donated blood.

By donating blood, the Saudi Crown Prince sets a model of inspiring leadership in humanitarian efforts, sending a valuable message on the importance of volunteering and encourages the community to embrace a culture of generosity, and inviting them to take part in this noble act and contribute to saving lives.
