Qassim Governor Launches 2nd Rural Tourism Award, Emphasizing Region’s Competitive Advantages
Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, launched the second edition of the “Qassim Region Rural Tourism Award,” in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Faisal bin Saad, Deputy Governor of the region. The award aims to promote a culture of sustainable rural tourism and encourage investment in the region’s tourism, agricultural, and heritage assets, contributing to the diversification of tourism products and the development of the local economy.
The Governor chaired a meeting with members of the award’s secretariat, where he reviewed preparations for the second edition. Discussions covered efforts to develop the award’s tracks and strengthen its role in supporting rural tourism, encouraging initiatives and high-quality projects that leverage the region’s competitive advantages.
Prince Faisal emphasized that rural tourism represents one of Qassim’s most promising sectors, given its agricultural, natural, and heritage assets. He highlighted the importance of investing in these resources and transforming them into sustainable tourism products that attract visitors, create new investment opportunities, and support the development of the region’s governorates, centers, and villages.

Additionally, he noted that the Rural Tourism Award represents a valuable addition to the region’s tourism offerings and complements the programs, seasons, and tourism events taking place across Qassim. He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among relevant entities, the private sector, and entrepreneurs to build a diverse and sustainable tourism industry and maximize the economic benefits of rural assets.
The Governor also highlighted the tourism sector’s support and attention from the wise leadership—may God preserve it—within the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He underscored the need to make use of available tourism opportunities to develop the local economy, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and encourage the region’s young men and women to participate in entrepreneurship projects linked to rural tourism.
The meeting also reviewed the award secretariat’s efforts and work plans for the second edition, as well as mechanisms for promoting the award and increasing participation. These measures aim to attract outstanding initiatives and projects and showcase successful experiences in rural tourism.
