The Agricultural Products Festival was a valuable platform for Tayma farmers who were so eager to showcase the latest techniques in cultivation and crop development, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, Tayma is generally known for its fertile soil, abundant water supply and favorable climate. All these factors led to the success of its farmers.
Arak Trees

Farmer Mosnet bin Srour Al-Sharari said that he made use of the local conditions and techniques to cultivate his arak trees. Al-Sharari explained that the twigs of these trees can be chewed to help with dental care.
“I successfully created the ideal conditions for cultivating the arak tree using greenhouses,” Al-Sharari said.
He clarified that he planted the trees through pipes to ensure their straight growth. “The miswak I’ve harvested from these trees is of a quality equal to that produced in the hot, humid environments where it traditionally thrives,” he added.
Rice Cultivation

Hassan bin Yahya Al-Timawi shared his success in rice cultivation, with a promising project he launched more than 18 years ago.
Al-Timawi began growing the crop for his personal consumption, but now he grows multiple varieties.
He explained that the nutrient-rich soil of Tayma was perfect for cultivating a wide range of crops.
