The Madinah Astronomy Society has concluded its participation in World Space Week after implementing a series of scientific programs and educational activities, including scientific lectures and a field trip for astronomical observation and photography.

Lectures on Astronomy, Space

The participation included lectures on the role of astronomy in daily life, its technological applications, the history of astronomical discoveries and space exploration, celestial phenomena and objects, and concepts of speed, distance, and time in space travel.

Field Trip to Gharameel Reserve

The society also organized an astronomical trip to Gharameel Reserve in AlUla Governorate, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on field experience. It included a specialized workshop on photographing stars and the Milky Way, covering the fundamentals of astrophotography and techniques for low-light conditions using professional cameras and smartphones.

Community Engagement, Future Programs

President of the Madinah Astronomy Society Badr Al-Shammari said the society’s participation in World Space Week extends its year-round scientific and awareness programs, aimed at spreading astronomical knowledge among members of the community. He emphasized the society’s commitment to involving the local community in its programs and initiatives, and supporting those interested in astronomy—including researchers, photographers, students, and hobbyists—through activities that develop their skills, facilitate knowledge exchange, and encourage younger generations to engage with astronomy and space sciences.
