Against the backdrop of AI’s growing impact on creative industries, Saudi Arabia’s Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission (LPTC) hosted an open virtual meeting titled “Editing and Design Using Artificial Intelligence.”
The session brought together experts and industry stakeholders to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by AI-driven tools in content creation, editing, and publishing.
The Shift Toward Intelligent Publishing
At the core of the talks was a publishing landscape being completely reshaped by artificial intelligence. Instead of viewing planning, editing, proofreading, and design as sequential steps, AI is bringing them together into seamless integrated process that delivers content more efficiently than ever before.
Rather than replacing human expertise, speakers said that cutting-edge technologies are providing creators with an amazing opportunity to redirect their efforts toward boosting content quality, supporting creativity, as well as maintaining originality, while repetitive tasks are increasingly handled by intelligent tools.
New Formats, New Skills
The discussions also revolved around AI’s remarkable ability to turn a single piece of content into several formats, from audiobooks and concise summaries to visually dynamic materials tailored to diverse platforms and languages. This adaptability is unleashing new horizons for creators and publishers to extend their reach and connect with different cultures.
Beyond the technology itself, the meeting centered on the people behind it. Participants highlighted the need for publishing professionals to nurture a versatile digital skill set, arguing that navigating the AI age requires confidence with a diverse ecosystem of digital tools instead of hinging on a single application.
Toward an Ethical AI Future
As the discussion broadened, attention shifted toward the governing principles of artificial intelligence. Speakers stressed that while AI is reshaping content creation, its adoption must align with strong ethical principles.
In this context, they also cautioned that vigilance remains essential. Safeguarding intellectual property and copyright, ensuring human oversight, and respecting cultural context must go hand in hand with transparent disclosure of AI‑generated material.
