ISESCO and UNESCO Sign MoU to Cooperate in Education and Science

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) signed a memorandum of understanding in Paris to strengthen cooperation at the international and regional levels in implementing pioneering initiatives in education, science, artificial intelligence, communication and knowledge dissemination.

An ISESCO statement said the agreement, signed by the organization’s Director-General, Dr. Salim bin Mohamed Al-Malik, and UNESCO’s Director-General, Dr. Khalid Al-Anani, provides for the development of sustainable policies to encourage cultural diversity and safeguard heritage, and for enhanced cooperation in education through initiatives to strengthen education and higher education systems, support green and digital education and transformation efforts, build the capacities of teaching staff, develop strategies to prevent dropout, and expand access to early childhood education.

The document also covers the protection of cultural rights and the promotion of cultural diversity, the safeguarding of endangered and underwater heritage, and combating the illicit trafficking of cultural property, in addition to strengthening cultural policies and creative industries.
