SDAIA Begins Implementing Data. AI Training Standards Framework Launched at UNESCO Forum
The Capacity Building Sector at the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in cooperation with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, has begun applying the Data and AI Training Programs Standards Framework to a range of specialized training programs. The move follows the framework’s launch during the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, hosted by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh last week.
The framework establishes reference standards to improve the quality of data and AI training programs and ensure that their content aligns with labor-market needs, professional requirements, and relevant national laws and regulations.
It also focuses on incorporating national legislation and policies related to data and AI, along with AI principles and ethics. In addition, it raises awareness of the risks associated with using AI technologies and tools, helping improve training outcomes and align them more closely with labor-market requirements.
The first phase of the framework’s practical implementation involved reviewing and evaluating 10 training programs according to its standards. The programs varied in terms of target audiences and professional levels. They included courses for non-specialists on using AI tools to improve productivity, specialized programs for data and AI practitioners and professionals, and leadership programs designed to help executives understand, adopt, and effectively apply these technologies in their work.
During the forum, SDAIA’s Capacity Building Sector also launched four specialized professional certifications in data management and governance: the Certified Data Classification Professional, Certified Personal Data Protection Professional, Certified National Data Index “Nadeeb” Assessor, and Certified Data Quality Management Professional. The initiative aims to strengthen professional standards and develop national talent in priority fields.
As part of its ongoing efforts to build and develop national capabilities, SDAIA’s Capacity Building Sector delivered 31 training programs last week, benefiting more than 850 trainees from over 55 government entities.
The programs covered a range of specialized topics, including the fundamentals of AI in the workplace, the development of computer vision systems, advanced generative AI systems engineering, the use of generative AI to improve productivity, time-series analysis and forecasting, and other advanced areas of data and AI.
The implementation of the framework builds on SDAIA’s efforts to develop the training ecosystem in data and AI, improve the quality and outcomes of training programs, and equip national talent to use data and AI technologies responsibly and effectively. These efforts support labor-market needs, strengthen the readiness of Saudi professionals, and advance the Kingdom’s goals of building a data- and innovation-driven economy.
