The Abu Bakr Salem Theater in Riyadh’s Boulevard City will host the inaugural Tar Festival today, coinciding with the Esports World Cup.
Organized by the Music Commission, the festival runs until August 23 and celebrates Saudi Arabia’s rich musical heritage. At its core is the tar, a traditional percussion instrument cherished for its distinctive rhythms and central role in Saudi music.
Visitors can enjoy live performances, diverse artistic showcases, and interactive experiences. A dedicated marketplace will also allow guests to purchase instruments and witness master craftsmen creating them on site.
More than a celebration of music, the Tar Festival is a cultural platform that nurtures local talent, preserves Saudi traditions, and presents them on both national and global stages. It offers audiences an immersive journey into the Kingdom’s vibrant musical identity.
