In celebration of Eid Al-Adha, employees of the private and non-profit sectors in Saudi Arabia will get a four-day holiday.
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) announced that Eid Al-Adha holiday for the workers in the private and non-profit sectors will be 4 days.
The vacation will begin on Thursday June 5, 2025 (Day of Arafat) and end on Sunday June 8, 2025.
In the light of this, the Human Resources Ministry emphasized that employers must take in consideration the cases of overlapping stipulated in the Executive Regulations of Saudi Arabia’s labor law to ensure that the holiday aligns with the rules.
The Saudi Royal Court on Tuesday confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon of Dhu’al-Hijjah, which meant that Wednesday May 28, 2025 was the first day of the Islamic month.
Dhu’al-Hijjah is the final month in the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims perform Hajj and celebrate Eid Al-Adha. Hajj rituals begin on the eighth day of Dhu’al-Hijjah (Day of Tarwiyah). This year, it falls on June 4, 2025, while the Day of Arafat coincides with June 5 and the Day of Eid falls on June 6, 2025.
Eid Al-Adha celebrations are marked with prayers, animal sacrifice, charity and family gatherings, enhancing togetherness and strengthening community bonds.
Meanwhile, Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. In this spiritual experience, able-bodied Muslims perform a set of rituals during the first ten days of Dhu’al-Hijjah in the holy city of Makkah.
